Becoming a Christian is an instantaneous act of God's grace in response to the plea of a repentant heart, not the willful desire of one trying to live a better life by adopting Christian values. However, learning to live your Christian life to please God is not automatic nor instantaneous-it will take time to learn God's Word, apply it to your life, and allow God to change you as He sees fit. As sinners saved by grace, this transformational experience will take the rest of our lives, which none of us will master until we are home in heaven.
