It's the late 1970s. There are no cell phones, no computers, no easy answers. Mabie is the secretary and girl-Friday at a small independent insurance agency in Palos Verdes, California, where the days are supposed to be routine. Then one of the agency's biggest customers starts asking for favors that don't quite add up. As Mabie digs for answers, she uncovers something far bigger than a few questionable claims. When her son gets pulled into the unfolding scheme, the stakes become personal. Armed with sharp wit and an instinct for asking the right questions, Mabie sets out to expose a sprawling crime ring, even as the danger closes in around her.
